"Administrative Burden" by @pamela_herd & @donmoyn reminded me of a 2009 Yale study by Sara Rockwell, "The FDP Faculty Burden Survey". >6000 faculty PIs participated. Major finding: "42% of the time spent by an average PI on a federally funded research project was reported to be expended on administrative tasks related to that project rather than on research." Likely to have worsened over time. This burden is a waste of time and talent.
