There is a new study out, re-examining the DNA of Ötzi, one of the oldest glacial mummies (dated 3350–3120 BCE), found near the Austrian/Italian border in 1991. This study shows two things.
He showed an unusually-high c.90% Anatolian Neolithic farmer ancestry but NO Steppe ancestry (The rest is European Hunter-Gatherer)
Also, he was much more dark-skinned than expected and had SNPs associated with male-pattern baldness.

Starting to prepare #IrishCaveBones from Killuragh Cave, Co. Limerick for Licencing applications to the National Museim of Ireland, for radiocarbon dates, #aDNA and stable isotopes from multi-species. Including #dogs ! Will be photographing these & more later in the week and filling in the licence forms. Cheddar man was found in Gough’s Cave, #Somerset in 1903 & dates to the #Mesolithic, some 10,000 years ago. Advances in #aDNA meant his skeleton was tested. There was also a bust being made for a TV prog, which used standard techniques to reconstruct his profile + physical features.
