Maddy speaks beautiful Spanish. That’s because she lived in Mexico—in San Miguel de Allende—for 5 yrs as a kid. I try very hard not to speculate about What Could Have Been had my mother simply given me to my father instead of abandoning me to strangers, & I’m usually successful in that regard, but some things are easier to shrug off than others. Why should welcoming an infant/child into one's family require legal severance from mother, father, siblings, extended family, identity, ancestry, heritage? Name changes, falsified documents, sealed records? It shouldn't. Some children do need care--NO ONE requires #adoption . There are other ways--BETTER ways. #AdopteeVoices #AdopteeRightsAreHumanRights
