Was at the cinema earlier. Saw the trailer for M. Night Shyamalan's new film "Knock At The Cabin".
Wonder if I'll ever be able to go to the cinema without being confronted with romanticised depictions of adoption. Will little Asian girls forever be cast as white people's cute adopted child?

The child will also be told that it should be grateful, for being adopted. It will frequently be told that its biological mother gave it away or didn't want it. It will be told that life with its biological mother, would have been bad. It will be gaslighted and silenced.

Adoption is trauma. A child is removed from its parents, has its identity erased and shipped to another family, possibly of a different race, nationality and culture. That trauma is irreversible.
If the child is BIPOC, and adopted by a white family, it will experience racism, regardless of how well meaning the adopters are. And the child will have no one to turn to. The people who are supposed to care for it the most, will not understand.
