Just received this email from YouTube telling me that they are going “best practice” my choices down to two. To have ads on my videos or to not have ads at all. YouTube will now be deciding which type of ads to put on my videos.
As an asmrtist I make videos for people to relax and fall asleep to. That is why all of my videos only have text ads for the first six months. I don’t want a loud ad blaring at my subscribers as they are drifting off to sleep or quieting a panic attack.
In 2021 I took a break from making videos because the algorithms of YouTube we’re making it harder and harder for my videos to be found and it started to feel like a job. Two weeks ago I made my first video in a year and a half and now I’m thrown right back into feeling like I’m not working hard enough to make YouTube money.
What are the chances that YouTube will promote my videos if I have ads turned off completely?
