According to #adsbexchange there is one dutch F-16 circling the area. But there are in fact four.
And now that I could see the silhouettes on a perfect fly-over it's actually two F-16 and two F-22.
Cool! Something I put on GitHub a couple of months ago finally found its way into #adsbexchange. AWACS areas of operation and orbits for Germany 🇩🇪. And someone joined in and added Netherlands 🇳🇱 and Poland 🇵🇱 as well.

🇨🇦 As reported yesterday by @northdud, it sure looks like Canada is sending a CANSOFCOM team by #RCAF CC-177 to evacuate Canadians from Sudan as well. Yes, you can track the operation on #ADSBexchange. https://twitter.com/BarakRavid/status/1649709924002217985
Some champion-level nerd stuff today. My kids are headed on a trip to Africa via the UK for three weeks. Unfortunately for them, they’re stuck on the tarmac at #yvr but I'm keeping tabs on them through the tower and ground audio feeds from #liveatc and watching the plow trucks do their thing on the runways via #adsbexchange. Shouldn’t be long now, they’re getting things moving again after a three hour delay.
This surprised me at first because I thought separation above FL400 was 2000’, but it turns out that begins at FL410 and up! I hope they waved.
update: here’s the tracks I managed to capture before I restarted the map application — this with the included designed-for-DTV antenna, on a junction box cover “ground plane” inside in a south-facing window.
The purple/pink tracks are high-altitude, the orange /yellow/green is coming and going from YHZ.
I’ve also got feeds going to FlightRadar24, FlightAware, and adsb.fi (and upgraded accounts on the first two!). Tomorrow: antenna tuning, maybe…
If your in NZ and feed ADS-B to anywhere - especially ADSBExchange because of their not filtering, etc. etc. - there are other sites that could use your feed data which hasn't sold out to an aviation intelligence company - which ADSBExchange has done.
In this case, aprs.fi has a few holes locally in the feed data and would probably be worthy of your captured data.
If you use the SDR Enthusiasts docker containers see https://github.com/sdr-enthusiasts/docker-multifeeder 👍🏻

In the Wild West of uncensored flight tracking, who'll be the spiritual sucessor of #ADSBExchange? https://jettip.net/blog/in-the-wild-west-of-uncensored-flight-tracking-wholl-be-the-spiritual-sucessor-of-ads-b-exchange
The Flight Tracker That Powers ElonJet Just Took a Left Turn
ADS-B Exchange, beloved for resisting censorship, was sold to a company owned by private equity—and now even its biggest fans are bailing.

ADSB.one has released a clone of the #ADSBExchange Rapid API service, just in time for all of my fellow avgeek bot wranglers to refactor as they switch over to Mastodon from Twitter. Docs: https://github.com/ADSB-One/api/blob/main/README.md

Interesting article here on #copyright as it applies to data sets. Whatever replaces #ADSBExchange (and whoever feeds it) should consider the license of the "data set" collected in addition to that of any software used to collect it.

On #flightradar or #adsbexchange you can watch an American military plane (#COBRA47) copying the path of a #Chinese #spy #balloon during these hours.
It is a Boeing RC-135U, which is specialized in electronic reconnaissance.
Note: Such a balloon can not only collect radio data, which satellites can't do at high altitudes, but it can also theoretically serve for very precise targeting with the navigation lasers for the hypersonic missiles - in the event of an attack.

Another update on the progress being made by "the big four" alternative ADSB aggregators that have sprung up since #ADSBExchange was sold last week.
The most successful so far appears to be ADSB.fi, which as of 15 minutes ago, was tracking 46% the number of aircraft of ADSBx.
ADSBx has lost roughly 8% of its feeders (9470 to 8693 per the numbers I can find).
Interesting to see how much coverage can get spun up fairly quickly; ADSB.fi already tracking 42% the number of flights as ADSBx is.
Number of aircraft being tracked by the large flight trackers at 1600 UTC (10:00 AM CST).

Wasn't sure why F-16s kept flying over our house, but I put it together when they stopped circling and flew right over #Philly. It was an Eagles game #flyover. Confirmed by checking jawns.social 😂
The #adsbexchange track shows them headed off toward Atlantic City. I think they're from the 177th Fighter Wing of the New Jersey Air National Guard.
