I never thought I could (or, indeed, would need to) resort to that. But he tried to bluff me, and I called him on it.

Every moment I can have with my parents I’m filled with gratitude and love. My heart feels like it’s breaking, or being ripped from my body, as I keep experiencing his confusion and forgetting. He’s going to be 87 tomorrow. I hate how long this goodbye has already been.
