Random story. I was signing up for a workplace account and they required Microsoft Authenticator. Then a client of the workplace required Google Authenticator.

Both of these are closed-source #2FA apps and I was *not* given a company phone.

I was tempted to be "that guy" and refuse to use my personal device, but in the end #Aegis ended up replacing both. Great app.

¡Hola! Es muy comun usar métodos de dos pasos en todas las cuentas y uno popular es Google Authenticator.

Lo que nadie te dice es que lleva una clave secreta llamada TOTP (Time-based One-time Password) La base del TOTP es un hash, un procedimiento criptográfico. A partir de unas variables se forma una secuencia de caracteres codificada.

El hash es siempre el mismo y si llegas a perder o se llega a romper o dios no lo permita, pero te roban el celular, no hay manera de recuperarlas, por lo tanto, es un arma de doble filo.

Yo uso #Aegis es #Opensource y te deja no solo hacer un backup y tener el archivo de todo en un lugar seguro, sino que te deja hacerlo de manera automática.

También te deja ver el hash y copiarlo para poder usarlo en otra aplicación para más comodidad como puede ser KeePassXC. Y hablaré de Keepass mas adelante...

טוב, זה לקח איזה שעתיים, אבל העברתי את כל ה-#2fa שלי מ-#googleauthenticator ל- #aegis. אם עוד לא עשיתם את זה, זה הזמן!

I have officially moved all of my 2FA stuff out of Authy and over to Aegis.

I will no longer use Authy and I would encourage nobody else to do so either as it's one of the worst 2FA apps ever made for several reasons.

Es ist immer sinnvoll, Accounts nicht nur mit Benutzername und Passwort, sondern auch mit 2-Faktor-Authentifizierung (#2FA) abzusichern, z.B. mittels TOTP, einer sechstelligen Nummer, die sich ständig ändert und von einer 2FA-App z.B. auf dem Smartphone angezeigt werden kann und die bei der Anmeldung am jeweiligen Account zusätzlich zu Benutzername und Passwort eingegeben wird.

Unter Android empfehle ich dafür die App #Aegis, gibt es sowohl im Play Store als auch via F-Droid. Aegis kann die für jeden Account zufällig erstellte "Saat", aus der die wechselnden Zugangsnummern errechnet werden, verschlüsselt speichern und auch verschlüsselte Backups anlegen.

Bei mir habe ich die Nextcloud-App so eingerichtet, dass sie die erstellten Backups dann automatisch in die Nextcloud hochlädt.

Ich nutze 2FA derzeit für Mastodon, Pixelfed, Joomla und Nextcloud.
