LB (Gender Moment)

Just gonna boost that here as well.

Had a very interesting penny-drop moment the other morning regarding gender and identity. Reminded me strongly of the exact moment c.2017 when I suddenly realised 'fuck, I'm not broken, I'm asexual.'

I have never been able to refer to myself as a 'man' without cringing internally. I identify as masculine, and present as such too, but on no level do I feel like 'man' describes me. This is not new, I've only just noticed it.

Some wonderful friends were right there with me and suggested that they'd noticed as much, just from knowing me, and that perhaps I should try out investigating some sort of GNC label.

I... I like this.

Discovering asexuality (specifically Aegosexuality) freed me from self-imposed expectation. Perhaps this will do the same with gender as the former did for sexuality and attraction.

It derives from a- + ego + sexual.

Dear #LGBTQ spaces.
I want to find meaning in queer spaces (and gay male spaces in particular).
I want to be valued for being myself, on my own terms, in my own way.
I want to find friendship, connection, a sense of belonging.
I don't want to spend my days thinking that Grindr and its ilk are the only spaces out there, or that they're the ones that set the tone for all the others to copy if they want to "make it" in queer social media.
I am #asexual; specifically #aegosexual.
Sex and queerdom are separate things. Sex is OK, but it can overbear queer spaces and warp and distort the interactions people have in them (and in some cases, I would say it ruins them).
I just want to feel I belong somewhere. No queer space has made me feel that yet.

Every time I question whether I’m truly #aegosexual / #asexual, I see something on tumblr that’s “[favourite character] x reader” it makes me deeply uncomfortable and I feel very affirmed.

I have recently determined that I am, in fact, #aegosexual and #demiromantic with a strong chance of being #flux.
