I gave the #aerc mail client a try, and it's really functional and working great. https://aerc-mail.org/ #foss #mailclient #linux #terminal

@jonathanmatthews You'll find how I setup my #aerc email client for two accounts and offline mail in my dotfiles above. Hope it helps ? See I remembered too ! π
I need to stop procrastinating at some point and actually get on ticking off things from my ever growing to-do list. The most important things are adding some more blog posts on my updated #aerc setup and how I install #Qtile from their #git repo for running under #wayland on #VoidLinux .
I've also a ton of updates to push to my own git repo for the many changes I've made to my dotfiles.
Not tonight though maybe next week we'll see. π

I will not be beaten by #aerc and I know I said that I would be deleting the Gmail account and adding my Fastmail account. But I like pain so I thought I'd have it work with both for now just for research and to see how easy it would be. I think I'm just about there too as I can send from either account and can delete stuff and it goes into the correct trash/bin folder. So I'll play a little more before letting anyone see the config.
I know what I've not done and that is configure #aerc for my new fastmail personal domain and to bin the Gmail setup. That'll be a job for tomorrow then.
Help on #aerc needed: how do I edit the To field after I'm already in the email body panel? I need to move cursor up to headers....
@benjaminhollon have any ideas?
In addition to testing out #Voidlinux again, Iβm now also trying to become almost exclusively terminal based within my WM. So #Aerc for mail, #Tut for Mastodon, #Ranger as a FM, Neovim as a βDE-texteditor β (so a .local/share/applications shortcut). Currently using #qutebrowser and #spotify as only exceptions and #Thunar as a fallback FM. It takes a little getting used to, although only fulltime ranger and neovim instead of neovim-qt are the only changes from my daily. But I like it!
#voidlinux #aerc #tut #ranger #qutebrowser #spotify #thunar
@eudoxos @sesivany BTW, I like the idea of #aerc https://sr.ht/~rjarry/aerc/ it seems interesting (even more bare-bone but developed in the #IMAP age), if it actually worked for me ;) https://is.gd/62uLg1
switched from #neomutt to #aerc and i'm never looking back. the setup process for aerc was so simple and after working out a few kinks it works great on my #pinephone!
Now that I'm using #aerc I have considered trying out #sourcehut properly. By that I mean learning to using #GitSendEmail too via aerc. Who knows but for now maybe I should step away from the keyboard ? π
#aerc #sourcehut #gitsendemail
Well the #aerc post is up. There's probably more I could add and more than likely will. But there is probably stuff I should remove too but hey I'm a blogging newbie. Nobodies perfect right ? π€
In case anyone is wondering I am attempting to blog about my #aerc email setup that is still very much a WIP π€£
Today I spent a good amount of time setting up #aerc for my work email, which I will use to participate in email lists. I have to say that it is a really slick application. Such a genius design.
In addition, I got my password manager CLIs setup too, so aerc can call out to #1Password or #bitwarden to get my password credentials.
I also learned that 1Password can unlock when your system unlocks. That is a feature that Bitwarden doesn't have.
I have successfully installed and working with #mutt. I tried the others and no go. I didn't "get" #alpine and #aerc had comflicting dependencies for other applications that I'm running, its just TOO bleeding edge for this guy, but it looks really good, so I will likely switch if they get to the "stable" build on debian or my other programs catch-up.
#aerc email client users I can't see the wood for the trees so could you help a girl out ?
Is it possible to have aerc open with say a split 20 as default without having to use a key bind to activate it ?
Haha just discovered that #aerc will allow me to configure keybindings based on say account or folder context. That's exactly what I'm needing to do. Fine job for tonight after work.
Slowly modifying my #aerc config to suit and getting plenty of help / inspiration from other users dot files like @proycon , @stacyharper and not forgetting some of the devs too.
Why have I never used a tui email client before !?
