The irony of this is that in the 90s when I transitioned #bisexual (sometimes mainly male-attracted) #AFAB people found themselves being pressured into identifying as lesbians when they looked for non-gender conforming social spaces.

Even gender non-conforming was policed (not feminine was good, anything too openly male-identified was bad).

Y'know that narrative going around in some media outlets about the (paraphrasing) "sudden influx of girls" who "come out as trans and immediately demand testosterone" implying that they're doing it to be trendy and not because they are boys who have been suppressing their true selves. Dumb gender critical shit platformed in mainstream media.

Of course what these articles fail to mention is that when baby transmascs with newly-cracked eggs come into ftm spaces asking about T, the guys there are like, "Listen, you're going to get hair, especially in your ass crack. Your clit is going to grow into a T-dick. Your voice is going to drop and crack. It is male puberty." They don't pull punches.

So some of the baby trans are like "yes, give me!" and some are like, "ok, maybe T is not for me then." Some will decide to have top surgery but no hormones, some will do hormones but no surgery. Some will transition socially and then stop. There's lots of ways for us AFAB folks to transition that may or may not involve testosterone!

But you never hear about any of that in mainstream media, do you? 😒 😡

In this readers' response piece about teenage #shunning it's striking that it's about teenage girls, not boys. Also what gets you shunned: being 'different', not quite fitting in.
