#AFM phase imaging can be very useful when you have copolymers with constituents with strongly differing elasticity. Relatively hard (and non-sticky) areas show a much lower shift of the phase of the mechanical vibration of the cantilever compared to soft areas. The spatial resolution of the #AFM tip normally is high enough to identify different strands of the polymers (ca 20 nm) + you can easily evaluate additional charcteristics Like Touring patterns or vesicle formation.

Our colleague Min-Huei Chiou just made a new publication on polymer segment species in a copolymeron and their effect on electrolyte properties and performance in lithium metal #batteries. We contributed #AFM phase images to visualize polymer distribution.

We contributed some #KPFM measurements of the different SiC surfaces and terminations (although we normally only work on the other kind of cells 🔋😅). Apparently, blood coagulation is influenced by the surface potential/work function of the substrate material, giving interesting Insight for the use of SiC in implants. #AFM #microscopy @fzj https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/jbm.a.37533
