Something that really irks me is when in French, people begin their sentence with a word begining itself with a <ç> as in “Ca marche”, but the cedilla is not on the <c>. It should be “Ça marche”.

BUT, it’s generally not their fault if they aren’t on their phone, because it is an inherent flaw of the French #AZERTY keyboard, which makes it all the more annoying!

The #AFNOR published a few years back a new standardized AZERTY layout which allows its users to actually type it, but wouldn’t you know it, the vast majority of people use Windows and macOS, and it’s not available on these OSes unless they install it themselves (by the way, it’s over there: http://norme-azerty.fr/), and they either learn the new layout or they add stickers on their keyboard. On modern Linuxes, it is available though, but it doesn’t fix the fact that basically no keyboard is sold with the AZERTY AFNOR layout.

Or even better, the #bépo layout (its AFNOR version, of course)! It’s a French #dvorak variant made to be as comfortable as possible. I switched to the bépo layout nine years ago, and I regret absolutely nothing, BUT it still needs to be installed on Windows and macOS, and the Google Keyboard for Android has no options for it. Weirdly enough, the Microsoft Keyboard does.
But as expected, it has been available on Linux right from the start, so I’m only half-complaining.

It's for instance the case of the norm for low voltage (< 1000 V AC) electricity users, the NF C 15-100.
The distribution process is awkward though, since you have to give a name and an e-mail to the #AFNOR to receive a watermarked PDF of the norm, one shall not redistribute.

Vendredi dernier, présentation au boulot sur la saisie à 10 doigts en aveugle et la disposition #bépo.

Des échanges intéressants ont suivi sur le manque de prise de conscience de l’éducation nationale en termes d’apprentissage de la saisie dactylographiée et de la généralisation du bépo ou, à minima, de l’#azerty révisé #AFNOR.

A l’heure où l’on passe sa vie professionnelle devant un clavier d’ordinateur, ne pas prendre ces considérations en compte est une lacune de notre enseignement.

Cinq mois après la publication par l'#afnor de la norme pour la nouvelle disposition #azerty il est bien difficile de savoir si le nouveau marquage est déjà appliqué ou pas : les visuels sont en #querty même sur les sites francophones des constructeurs, et la communication se concentre sur le retroéclairage RGB, élément visiblement très important...
A-t-on peur de communiquer là-dessus?
Est-ce trop tôt? Inutile?
Certains indiquent «clavier français» : le signe que #bépo sera tjrs ignoré?
