Etwas träge inszeniert, aber gut gespielt. Gefallen hat mir, dass die Rolle des Androiden hier mal einen anderen Dreh hatte. Das Stilmittel der Wiederholungen von Gesprochenem hat mich genervt. Den Twist zum Schluss musste ich ein zweites Mal gucken, um ihn zu verstehen. 6/10.

AFTER YANG is now available on Paramount+, and it is an excellent sci-fi film about a family mourning the imminent loss of their android, Yang, who is both an elder sibling and caregiver for their adoptive daughter.

I always struggle with movies that have an adoption storyline, especially if it is transracial and transnational. I also struggle with movies that have clones and human-like AI robots, with 'personalities'. This film made me even more uncomfortable, because the AI was 'Asian' in order to be a companion/brother to the Chinese adoptee. #Adoption #AdopteeVoices #AfterYang
