A Girl Called Eddy - A Girl Called Eddy

Here's a lesser known, absolutely fantastic record. It's a pop record in the absolutely best sense. Erin has an incredible ear for melody...and she's matched, on this record, by Pulp's Richard Hawley, whose production work and backing helped present the generally melancholy songs beautifully.

One of my very favorite records.

Although this looks like it's from 1965, it's from 1999, with fake ringwear, etc.

Japanese Breakfast - Soft Sounds from Another Planet

This is the (sadly, noisy) Secretly Society pressing that came out recently.

This LP reminds me *so much* of A Girl Called Eddy: classic pop forms, in a classic “large space” recording.

A Girl Called Eddy's second LP, "Been Around". This, and her first, self-titled album, are really fantastic, Bacharach-ish (as in careful, elegant song craft) records that are well worth your time.
