If the FSF were more active / still relevant, and they were making a successor to the #AGPLv3 to cover new additional threats to #FreeSoftware and the four freedoms, such as LLMs slurping up #copyleft code without releasing the result under copyleft, what new clauses should be in the new license? If you were writing a new version of the #AGPL, what threats would you guard against, using what language?
If the FSF can't get their act together, is there any org that could produce such a license?

This is a demo of slcl, my own AGPLv3-licensed cloud software written in C99 + POSIX, showing how to:
- Create a user
- Create directories
- Upload, preview and share files with others
- Remove files and/or directories
slcl is extremely lightweight on the server and even runs its own HTTP/1.1 implementation.
slcl uses no JavaScript at all. Only HTTP/1.1, HTML5 and CSS.

All the talk about #redhat attempting to restrict the freedom of #RHEL users that I've seen is focusing on how #IBM just barely stays out of violation of the GPL.
But, what I don't see is talk of the many non-GPL packages in RHEL with "permissive" (I'd say, "vulnerable") licenses (BSD, MIT and their ilk). #IBM need not make their source available, even to those that they themselves distribute binaries. They can still put the screws harder to the FOSS community.
Thanks @pixelcode!
Your link is an answer to my question. The only other open source license that requires disclosure of modified source code is the Mozilla License. It's still not as strong as the AGPL, which defines distribution as network use.

Section 5, "Conveying Modified Source Versions", of the Affero GPLv3 sounds very related to this protection.
It sounds to me that anyone is free to distribute modified versions of the software, but to do so, they must also release the source code for the modified version they release, also under the same license.

🚨 Discord-using #FOSS project alert!
No excuses anymore, ditch that #WalledGarden content black hole that #discord is.
Because.. #Revolt, your #AGPL-licensed alternative has arrived.
And they are on the #Fediverse too. Hi there @revoltchat 👋

So, long story short, my approach up until now has been to avoid copyleft altogether and to use Apache-2.0 instead, because it is relatively short and easy to comply with. Since I published by code on Codeberg, who require OSI or FSF-approved licenses, this was basically the only feasible choice I had. But since I plan to self-host the code of my upcoming software, I wonder if it would be time to try something new, licensing-wise. #foss #copyleft #agpl
...because if it isn't, I do think there absolutely should be one! #foss #licensing #agpl
@ahelwer old mail services weren’t licensed under the #AGPL
This license is the one thing holding back corporate. See what happened when Trump tried to open his mastodon instance.
> Mastodon is free software published under the AGPLv3 license, which requires any over-the-network service using it to make its source code and any modifications to it publicly accessible.

I'm not aware of SPI being a legal or financial umbrella for any fediverse projects, nor any of the older Open Source Foundations. FSF is the only Foundation that kind of does, as the legal host of the GNU Project and G social.
