Tour of town if you’re hiking through. Get a picture with the sign, eat at the Mexican place across the street, visit Trish at the hardware store, and Trish told me a new shop is going in the end unit and they’ll be adding stock for hikers 👍

Taking a break, been at it over 6 hours. I’m past half done, filled a couple big trenches, widened the road, cut some brush from the sides so people can go wide and not scratch. I’ll rest and snack and do some more, then come back and finish tomorrow. Trailhead parking will be much more accessible now.

I want to go see snow in the Sierra, I want to go climb snow in the San Gabriels, but I need to help this trailhead in town.
The roadway into the trailhead parking is a mess, few cars are going up, so the #PCT here is getting overrun by motorcyclists (even had my windshield smashed last weekend).

Big production in here today, haven’t looked it up yet to see what it is. They were filming in town earlier and they’re also setting up in the park. Will be either large crew or lots of extras, a property has been organized for a pretty large amount of vehicles looks like.

“Nope” was filmed in town here next to #PCT. The mini-town and theater was built on this movie ranch (first two pics, during vs today). The protagonists’ home was on a property next door. Minor set (no pics), it was all composited and the ranch removed. Last pic is the hill the alien cloud floated over.

Good hike / jog up the hill on the north end of town. Bouquet reservoir is looking good to the north, the higher San Gabriels to the east are snow capped, found a random geocache, and logged a lot of trail damage for my volunteer trail maintenance crew 👍🤗
Also got a smashed windshield back at the trailhead, but whatever, people suck, hardly surprised. That’s a when not if kind of thing.
