On this last day of the #ahg22 #accessibility conference, I'm going to put together a thread about the week. I'm doing this on Mastodon, Twitter users (if it's still working) click through the link to see the full thread; I'll also lightly edit and blog this when done. Be warned, this isn't a short thread :)

I kept thinking that the name of tonight's #ahg22 keynote speaker sounded familiar. Just placed it: she's a regular #Norwescon panelist and a #HugoAward winner! Looking forward to hearing Elsa Sjunneson (@snarkbat) speak in an entirely different context tonight!

Yesterday at #ahg22: A full-day workshop on using InDesign to create accessible PDFs. Tons of good information; learned a lot about InDesign and some new and very useful bits about Acrobat.

Today: Another full-day workshop, this one on using NVDA to test PDFs for accessibility. As I'm just getting used to using NVDA to check documents, I'm definitely looking forward to this one.

This is going to be a good week of pretty serious (but fun) brain food!

The fancon-to-procon shift is weird.

I’m used to fan-run SF/F cons like #Norwescon, with panels often running until 9pm or later, evening concerts or shows, 24-hour game spaces, and a general “we’ll sleep when this is done” schedule.

5pm, and day one of #ahg22 is done. Empty schedule.

I’m glad I loaded a stack of movies on my iPad. For me, it’s go find take-out dinner and then hang out in my room. But it just feels weird not to know that I could wander out and find things going on.

Badged, ribboned, and just about to start my first workshop at #ahg22.

Made it to Denver and am all set up at the hotel for #AccessingHigherGround #ahg22. Anyone else out there watching the hashtag -- or even among the early arrivers also here?

In a little less than a week, I’ll be heading down to #Denver for the #AccessingHigherGround #AHG22 conference on #accessbility in #HigherEducation. I’ve never been to Denver before, and will be staying at the Hilton Denver City Center hotel downtown. While I’ll mostly be conferencing, any recommendations on interesting and easy-to-get-to stuff in that area?
