Some of you may remember that we had our gas supply removed in April. That action set a deadline: we had to find another heating solution before the coming winter.
We now have that solution:
Our home is all-electric, generates more solar power than we consume, and we will use air conditioning as heating this winter.
Heat pumps are too large. We needed something that was less powerful and which would consume less power.
It was quite a DIY job.

I had the windows open and the fan going last night, and it got so cold in my bedroom, I had to get up and get my down #backpacking quilt, a Paria Outdoors Thermodown 15°F. It actually went down to 54°F by morning, and it was 63°F in my bedroom when I woke up earlier.

I live without #aircon, so I haven’t had a blanket on my bed in about 2 months, just a top sheet, and it hasn’t been that cold in my house since I shut off the furnace in early April. I keep the furnace set to 64°F in Winter.

Why is #aircon so unreliable on #swrailway trains these days? It just seems to be a fact of life, like having water sloshing around between the window panes or completely unreliable "next station" announcements.

We live in a rental, and I'm only really worried about the thing keeping my kids rooms cool (or cooler, they got upto 40°c last year).

#friday #fridaynight is def #eScooter night in #brisbane. Little fuckers are everywhere, even though it’s still over 30 outside. I was on mine and nearly got taken out by a #pizza #deliveryguy on an #ebike. Man he was flying. Too hot for me, back home with #aircon. Maybe next Friday.

So I turned on the #aircon using the #remote. As you do. The source of my #ant #antinfestation was revealed. About 1000 of the #littlefuckers ran up my arm while I had the remote. I opened it up, and thousands more came out, and when I shook it, #eggs tiny white ones, came out everywhere. I had to kill them, which I hate.
