I've got to get out there and finish installing the fuel pump relay on my #VW #type3 😩
I just have no idea what to make of this mess of old fucked up wiring, and a mental block about #electrical in general.
I think this is the "Voltage Supply Relay" so one of the wires that runs off of it will go up front to the fuel pump relay. Then I just have to figure out which wire runs to the ECU.
I think I need an induction loop meter...

I got my new fuel pump relay for my #vw #squareback, now I just have to find the wires that some monkey cut off to bypass the old one. The diagram shows wires running to the pump, ECU, voltage regulator, and auxiliary air valve. I *think* I know where all those are, and I have a test light so I can tell if they have voltage.

Still haven't put the new fuel pump on the #Squareback yet. I figured out what that weird patch wire was for, it's a bypass. There's probably a short somewhere in the original #wiring loom and instead of fixing it they drilled a hole in the firewall and ran a new wire directly to the fuel pump. There's even a twist at the fuse block for a cutoff switch. 🙄 #vw #electrical #automotive #aircooled #aircooledvw #type3

Worst thing that's wrong with my new #vw #squareback is the passenger door won't close. The hinge froze and trying to get it free I think the plate that's welded to the car has nearly broken off. I'm gonna have to take it off and have someone weld it back I figure. Gotta do that before it rains any more, but I need to drive it to the shop so I'd better get it running. #aircooledvw

Made my first parts order for the #vw #squareback yesterday; just a gas cap, front turn signal lenses and some rubber seals for the engine lid. I don't want to put gas in the tank to flush it until I have a cap so it doesn't evaporate. I suppose I could go ahead and take the plugs out to see if they need replaced but the wires look new so I'm hoping it gets fire when there's fuel to spray. If not, rebuilding the distributor shouldn't be a big deal. #classicCar #mechanic #car #aircooledvw #type3
