Did Michael Jordan actually have any creative input on the Air Jordan brand?
That's the question that came to mind when I heard that the new movie Air doesn't actually have the character of Michael Jordan in it.
There's an interview (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGhzncL5fYw) where Jordan says "I've always had input on all the shoes" immediately after saying "nothing passes me without my input" which comes across to me as saying that Jordan's input on the brand is basically just his final approval plus his role as the brand's spokesperson.
In my cursory research, the only specific claim I've seen about Jordan's involvement in the brand has been a ChatGPT answer that claims "He insisted on having a high-top design for ankle support and a lightweight feel, and he also wanted the shoes to have a distinctive look that would stand out on the court". But, you know, no source.
