Very happy, I voted for this film in the final round (the two other finalists were The Banshees of Inisherin, by Martin McDonagh, and Tár, by Todd Field, ): Grand Prix 2023 - "Fallen Leaves" by Aki Kaurismäki, to receive the FIPRESCI Grand Prix 2023 for Best Film of the Year.
This is the second time the Finnish director will have won the award !

I find #AkiKaurismäki movies a confusing experience upon exposure to them. It's such an exaggerated, out there version of what Finnish society may have been in the 80s, if talking the 'working class/Proletariat trilogy' or whatsuch.

An "As serious as my posts no doubt seem with my lack of emphasis" fantasyland version that isn't reality, because things are never like that, but, maybe, as if compelling if you persist with them?

More Eastern European than of the West, too. Confusing things.
