Weiß nicht was due hast.

After using #kde exclusively for at least 10 years now I decided to give #xfce a try on one workstation. #plasma works ok with me but I am a little annoyed with the #akonadi backend. I hoped so much they will get rid of it in #Plasma5
I used XFCE before but preferred the customization of KDE and the looks of #QT We will see how it goes. right now I am playing around with #evolution email. It's sad how #mozilla let #thunderbird rot to a state it's no fun to use anymore. I was using #kontact before and very happy with it's functionality. But the backend...

Can anyone #recommend a full-text, indexing search for #debian #linux? It seems like there's no singular solution, like Spotlight on OSX.
I have #Akonadi and #Tracker3 running. I've considered #Recoll and #SOLR.
In practice, I wind up using #grep and locate. Grep is a a worst-case personal search engine.
Bonus points if it doesn't require lots of config and if it is lightweight when idle.
This should be easy in 2022. Right?

So, I just uninstalled #Akonadi and now my desktop is so much lighter! It uses ~400 Mb less than before...
If your #Linux computer uses #Postgresql, and you get a large upgrade that blocks #KDE's #Akonadi, remember that you just need to upgrade your user's Akonadi database, not necessarily the whole system's PostgreSQL configuration. That will save you hours of useless trial an error.

The @kdecommunity Personal Information Manager #Kontact is my must have application on a #Linux system. Sometimes #Akonadi can give me fits although rare these days. Here is a little reference I put together that I use infrequently to straighten things up. https://cubiclenate.com/2020/01/11/kontact-akonadi-reference/

The orginal reason to get rid of #akonadi was that it seemed to be the only thing that used the #mysqld instance running on my laptop, and since I can't work out how to use #mysql I was going to get rid of that too. Turns out an awful lot of other packages seem to link to it in some way or another, and I couldn't even get #mariadb service to start up when I installed that. So I'll live with a useless mysqld process. And use #postgresql if I need an actual database for anything.

Right, think I've recovered from my adventures with #KDEWallet most of my stuff is back working again. That #akonadi thing is a right nuisance!
