@TheWildGees Frömel's Moon and Hill from 1971 in the IMMA Collection is a beautiful work. The alabaster sculpture has been displayed close to the natural light from the Royal Hospital's large windows. Sunlight can slightly illuminate the semi-permeable circular indentation in the stone. Extraordinary. #GerdaFrömel #Sculpture #Alabaster #IrishArt #IrishWomenArtists #WomenArtists #Mastodaoine https://imma.ie/collection/moon-and-hill/

A while ago, carving an alabaster piece, this little guy showed up, unimpressed by all the hammering and chiseling. Of course I moved it to a safe place.

Alabaster is now officially part of the sphinx-doc Github org! 🎉 https://github.com/sphinx-doc/alabaster
I'll still keep my fingertips in, but hopefully this removes me as a _bottleneck_ for development.
Big thanks to Adam Turner (AA-Turner on GH) for shepherding the process ❤️

Original art from #Alabaster, a comic I drew in 2012. Written by #CaitlinRKiernan, it centered on a tormented monster-slayer and her ghostly, mocking shadow-self.
I snuck in that wolf whistle in panel 4, a gag that emerges from character but relies on a tool unique to comics. Pictorial word-balloons are a weird artifact, but at the right moment, they’re irreplaceable.
Seeing the gag work gave me the courage to do a lot more of that sort of thing on my next project. (Cont)

4/3 (Eh? Sadly I managed to delete 1/3) Effigial church monuments are much recorded and discussed, but rarely the details of the design and cutting of any inscription. So here are some examples. All Saints, Ashover. Monument to Thomas and Edith Babington (+1518, +1511). The inscription around the alabaster plinth is finely, and very shallow carved, relief blackletter (gothic) which is much worn, but mainly readable. Beautifully done.
