By comparison in health care the problem has been that the private sector does not have the culture let alone the resources to treat high risk patients. So the result was either "cherry picking" of low risk cases or, fortunately briefly, what read and sounded like a bizarre exercise in "industrial strategy" in which the state would intervene to incubate private operators which could then work to #nhs standards. Appropriately this was in a speech from the #ultra #AlanMilburn !
|To the extent that this happened as a result of influence of a Community Health Council it perhaps becomes easier to understand why #AlanMilburn and #TonyBlair were so keen to see the back of Community Health Councils!
