Which reminds me that I’ve been retired for a year now and, looking back, what a year it’s been! We spent more than 120 days traveling, to places like Barcelona and Tallinn but also Chicago and Detroit, welcomed a fourth grandchild to the world, watched an entire season of PSG games, and studied French quite a bit. i wasted so many opportunities to study french in my teens #alas, although, against my will and all odds, i did actually learn a teensy bit.

i don’t really believe duolingo will actually make me conversant (and i’m not that diligent — i’m maybe a quarter of the way through the course after more than a year), but it’s a start.

Gaining an increment of temporary productivity by moving all of the "things to do" out of my inbox, and into my todo list. By doing so I temporarily notice that a few things that need to be done have been waiting for a long time and are also absurdly easy. (So I do them.)

I am sure that overall I would be more "productive" if I just wandered around the house noticing things and taking care of them, rather than keeping elaborate lists online.
