@ColinTheMathmo A few things I wanted to add:

1. This might be a good chance to advertise the edit button, since there will probably never be many hits for #AlbebraicTopology (with two b's) 😅

2. I'm into #AlgebraicTopology ! I'm still trying to get into the tagging habit though 😕

3. The new functionality to follow hashtags is, in my experience, even better than hashtag search. (Probably the same limitations, but the posts with those tags come to my home feed without searching)

@wrog I've just done a search and got a very small number of hits for #Topology, #Algebraic, and #AlbebraicTopology.

But Mastodon-as-a-Platform is not a place where you can search the mass of posts, it's a place to build a network in which you can then have the conversations. Searches can supplement this, but it's not about building a searchable body of data.

That's both a strength and a limitation.
