On June 22, 1989, Cyborg debuted in West Germany. Here’s some original Jean-Claude Van Damme art!

Every time someone asks me what movie I think needs to be remade, I almost always suggest Albert Pyun's Radioactive Dreams (1985) - a sci-fi action comedy with a great premise, a splendid poster, and an execution which really doesn't do right by either.
The film is OOP on physical media and doesn't seem to be streaming anywhere. At least, not officially.
On February 8, 1989 Alien From L.A. debuted in Alsace, France. Here’s a drawing of Janine DuPlessis as General Rykov to mark the occasion!

Just got back from #AlamoDraftHouse showing of Radioactive Dreams and this has shot to the top of Pyun’s filmography for me (about equal to Nemesis). It’s Streets of Fire crossed with Fallout 3 filled with nonstop, energetic homages to The Warriors, Bladerunner, Beneath the Planet of the Apes, Road Warrior and countless others. Hard to believe he made a world so colorful and wild with just a few cleverly dressed alleys and cheap industrial space. #AlbertPyun

Film 4 - Nemesis (1992)
Never seen an Albert Pyun film, thought I should correct that after he passed away this year.

Currently watching #NEMESIS (#AlbertPyun, 1992). Always loved this, but it looks absolutely phenomenal on a big screen with a good sound system.

I was obsessed with #AlbertPyun 's films when I was too young to even get them (legally) from the video rental and had to "borrow" my dad's card and hope they wouldn't ask for my age. Massive influence on my taste and sensibilities (or lack thereof). RIP. #film

The recent death of prolific B-movie director Albert Pyun reminded me of the strangest thing in his filmography. Road to Hell (2013) is an unofficial sequel to Walter Hill's cult favourite Streets of Fire - with Michael Pare and Deborah Van Valkenburgh, reprising their roles.
Hill's film has gorgeous cinematography and incredible production design work. Pyun's does not have such things, relying on heavy use of green screens.

Really sad to hear of the passing of #AlbertPyun. I still have my signed copy of his homegrown #CYBORG Director's Cut DVD to treasure. I had ongoing email correspondence with him about 15 or 20 years ago. He always seemed incredibly gracious and appreciative of his fans. A sad day :(
Rest in Peace

Director Albert Pyun died November 26th at 5:50 PM. He has been on a slow decline from dementia for a long time and continued to make movies until he just couldn’t.
He was a big part of my childhood with Radioactive Dreams, Down Twisted, and Dangerously Close. I’ve seen them hundreds of times and still put them on as an adult.
His b-movie career was long with many commercial hits and some misses. But he loved making movies and when you love what you do it’s always a hit.
Though I never had the chance to meet him, I did get to tell him what his films meant to be through his FB. He awknowledge and thanked me.
I will miss what his voice can’t say anymore and will continue to treasure what he has said.

Sad to hear that Albert Pyun, the American film director, has passed. He specialised in lively low budget sci-fi, action and fantasy movies, working for Cannon and Charles Band, enjoying hits with The Sword and the Sorcerer (1982), Radioactive Dreams (1985), Cyborg (1989) and Dollman (1991), and making the first feature length Captain America film (1990) for Menahem Golan.
