He scanned a card that was around his neck, and then entered the difference between the $4.49 salads and a 77 cents salads. In other words, that entire 15 minutes I spent wandering around, getting batteries, taking pictures, scanning codes, and wasting time could have been solved at the beginning if he'd just provided better customer service. /5

@RadicalRuss when I'm finally able to get my gen Z Clerk's attention again, I tell him how the scan of the coupon itself at the salad display is not bringing up the 77 cents coupon. He says, maybe you need to update your app. Sure enough, the app needs an update, so I stand around doing that. Of course, that makes no difference whatsoever. I have now probably wasted 15 minutes of my time trying to get 77 cents salads that #Albertsons advertised. /4

@RadicalRuss I go back and scan the coupon code with my #Albertsons app, but it keeps coming up with a coupon for $1 off, not a coupon for 77 cents salads. I take a picture of the coupon code and the display and take it back to the self-checkout area. But by now my gen Z clerk is busy helping others. That's when I noticed my phone has 3% battery. So, I run out to my car to get my battery charging pack, and head back to the self checkout area. /3

How not to do customer service, #Albertsons edition. I'm shopping when I see a great deal on Chopped Salad kits that normally cost $4.49. They are on sale for 77 cents. I grabbed two and go to the checkout with the rest of my groceries. I enter my shopper number, I scan my groceries, but as I get to the end and scan the two chopped salad kits, they come up at regular price. I asked the Gen Z clerk overseeing the self checkout area what the problem is? /1

Higher cost of food, lower wages. This isn’t sustainable. Even just thirty years ago most everyone still had a backyard garden. Then we started grocery shopping, tore out our gardens and installed swimming pools. Time to learn to grow our own food again.

Our beloved Alaska grocery store chain, #carrs was founded in 1950 and sold to #safeway in 2000. Safeway later acquired by Albertsons.
