This week’s Thick Trunk belongs to this stunning, massive, eucalyptus, growing beside a lagoon at Mungabareena reserve, East Albury. This area is a haven for Rikali, possums and birds such as egrets and azure kingfishers. The colour and texture of the trunk is wonderful.

A Christmas cleanse in the Murray River Albury this morning. A 2.2km swim at 8.30am with the Baker family and their swimming friends. A Christmas tradition for them and a new one for me.
Swimming with fins and kick board from Noreuill boat ramp to the Kremur St one, was a unique experience; to hear the squawks of cockatoos and laughs of kookaburra, while floating beneath magnificent river red gums.🧡
