#abandoned #BoatHouse across road from #historic Orca Inn - #AlertBay on #CormorantIsland in #BritishColumbia #Canada 🦅 The Orca Inn was built, owned & run by Chinese Canadians who lived in Alert Bay during the 1930s-1950s. I believe this boathouse was owned by Japanese people who used to live there before WWII. Gov't rounded up & moved Japanese folks to internment camps & seized all their assets/belongings.

Part of the old #Namgis #BurialGrounds - there's a new one, in different area of island. When the memorial totems fall down, they're left there because BC coastal #FirstNations believe it's part of the natural cycle of returning ancestors to their lands; post physical deaths.

Last night. Pazifica made more #tamales wrapped in big #SwissChard leaves (substituted for banana leaves). #Popcorn night too. We're here for one more night & then head to Port McNeill. There's an abandoned mine a bit North from there that I want to show my friends. It's a place I haven't been to for over a decade.
