So far, this has been my favorite episode of so far. They took the story and made it work within the TV show and still had it work. In some ways, the baddie was even better (better motivation) than the book (I know, terrible and I like this book).
I hope there's going to be more episodes and seasons.

Watching on Prime and feeling like people really suck everywhere but as long as there is one it'll all be okay (or at minimum your murder solved).

On a serious note, I love they way they touch on the native history and reflect on the pain they still go through today. Anyone else out there enjoying the series?

The series makes the townspeople into undeveloped but vaguely antagonistic meat-puppets, the town into a creepy-feeling void, and only VERY vaguely suggests anything amiss in the Sûreté.

I really really wanted to like this, and despite its many shortcomings I'll probably still see it through, but it's a big disappointment

There's a First Nations story added, which is fine, but the bread and butter of the series isn't the mysteries, it's the endearing, and endearingly complicated, residents of Three Pines (the town in which many of the books are set), and the extremely dark, complex, political machinations within Gamache's Sûreté de Quebéc.
