The #Rauda, or #Muslim #Cemetery of #Granada, was closed completely during the Franco era. It officially reopened for visits and new burials in 2009 thanks to the perseverance of the Muslim community of Granada. It's up the hill apiece from the main city cemetery.
I visited yesterday and I'm hoping to be buried there myself someday Insha Allah.
I've been told that the #Muslims who settled in Granada brought cypress trees with them from Africa and Arabia (and possibly Damascus). The height and grandeur of the trees are said to have reminded them of #Allah SWT.
