I am a living, breathing Dionysian-rhapsodizing, Nietzschean-heretical, punk-vulgar, goth-macabre, psychedelically preposterous, Zappa-satirical, gnostic-psychonautic, quasi-Beatnik monument to Allen Ginsberg’s dictum of “First Thought, Best Thought.”

And his book of collected poems was the first book I willingly read cover to cover.

My teacher, #poet #AllenGinsberg, died on this day in 1997. "Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public."

🎧 When I fell in love with "Crush with Eyeliner" in '94, I was in SF working on "The Celluloid Closet." The production office was in a run-down former convent school on Dolores. Gus Van Sant was post-ing "Even Cowgirls..." downstairs, and I ran into #AllenGinsberg in the lobby. An exciting time to be #queer in #TheMission.

#SpikeJonze was building on his #skate media fame with music videos, and this was one of his first and best.
