Since the movie about Oppenheimer is about to be released, you might be interesting in tracking down this comic book via Comixology or your local comic book store: All-Star Squadron 20 from 1983.
Written by Roy Thomas with art by Jerry Ordway, the story imagines the original Green Lantern in a parallel position to that of Oppenheimer – having impulsively turned his magic ring into the equivalent of a nuclear weapon while immersed in a vivid hallucination, bringing World War II to an apparent early end.
It's a powerful story, one of the best of that book IMO.

I've finally reached the #DougMoench era of #TheSpectre (which I'm excited to begin and experience). I'm pretty confident that I've found a clearish delineation between pre-Crisis and post-Crisis canon for the chronology and used two issues of #dccomcis #SecretOrigins as the jumping-on point for post-Crisis continuity. It will require a little fiddling of working in some #AllStarSquadron continuity to fill in the gaps, but I feel it's workable.

Add #AllStarSquadron #34 to this growing list of " #TheSpectre stops 2 Earths from colliding by becoming giant and placing himself between them!" #comics. (Except this time, it's Earth-2 and Earth-X on a collision course!)
Ah, #dccomics. You really do love this trope.

Reading #AllStarSquadron for my #TheSpectre read-through and...
...yet a THIRD story in which the Spectre grows large to prevent two Earths from colliding! Boy, what is with #dccomics and recycling this same story trope? #comics #comicbooks

Happy #DCComics Birthday to the #AllStarSquadron, which was formed on December 7, 1941.
