Love this obituary in their series, and an incredible article on the #Amazon from last week.. I'm also loving the #Almanak series of #nature writing by #CulturalGeography specialist Emmy Perez Fjalland

Nicolaas Antonie van Charante (1811-1873) als de Nederlandse Dickens of Andersen: uit 1869 "Het arme kind op Kerstavond". Melodramatisch! Maar jeetje, welk een armoe in de 19e eeuw.

Toch moet dat leed bij velen bekend zijn geweest, want dit heb ik gevonden in het "voor hoofd en hart" almanak. Die boekjes waren vaak grote verkoopsuccesen bij Sinterklaas en kerst (ook toen al!)
