The nation’s oldest Black fraternity, #AlphaPhiAlpha , which lists #MLKjr , WEB DuBois and Thurgood Marshall as alums, has moved its 2025 convention out of #Floriduh.⬇️

At least 12 other conferences have done the same. And I’m sure #chemistry and #science conference planners know to not even bother considering #Florida (or #Texas )!

The Sphinx, the magazine of Alpha Phi Alpha, included a great profile of Brother Hilyard R. Robinson in Dec. 1945. They note that he held 13 total patents (I also found some Canadian patents), inc. for an "air raid black-out light." 7/
