@mellifera as a British #AltBlackGirl london rich alt 🖤 scene in late 90s/2000s was so isolating and just horrific when ever I left the city & dared to attend gigs/festivals which I did alot. Its always a bore having to recite the black influence + origin to both black & white folks who argue its white music like that means anything, particularly in the UK.
Things are getting better. GenZ lot seem to be marrying both their rich Brit/African heritage with alternative music & it's a joy to see.
