Electronic is my favourite #NewOrder side hustle and I have been enjoying this album more and more. It's danceable rock with some hip-hop influences. The album starts off with an incredible track, which captures your attention immediately. I went ahead and treated myself with a very rare Taiwanese version for my birthday this year and the Discogs seller was just the best!

2020 European reissue.

This was my favourite album for a while back in late 2021/early 2022 and for a good reason: it's a brilliant crossover event between #NewOrder, #TheSmiths, and #PetShopBoys. With so much musical experience, the jangly guitar sound of Marr and the danceable synths of Sumner it's no wonder that they wrote one of the most brilliant #90s albums. I was looking for it on #vinyl for a long time and finally found a copy!

Wolfgang Press – Queer LP (UK release)

This was my introduction to the band. I’d heard some previous singles, but they were a dark, noisy post-punk band that just didn’t appeal to me. But Queer is…different.

The album's sound includes a lot of samples and funkier, poppier beats than previous albums. AllMusic describes Queer as "alien funk, a collection of idiosyncratic rhythms, dark textures, and ominous grooves."

I describe the sound of Queer as darkly seductive. It’s sort of "dance" music, but not entirely. It has a solid rhythm section like a dance album, but with noise pop flourishes throughout.

Michael Allen’s vocals are smooth, cool, and dark. For the most part he doesn’t sing as much as he kind of raps.

Tons of samples too. Turns out De La Soul's “3 Feet High and Rising” had a big influence on the band and their approach to this album.
