I spoke to @jess about being a musician on the #fediverse. She reminded me of something I used to really stress to people when talking about the distinction between #AlternativeSocialMedia and #CorporateSocialMedia: on the latter, if you're trying to promote yourself, you will get drowned out. Even if you pay. Because there's always someone spending more money to goose the algorithm in their favor.

There are problems on the fedi but fighting the privilege of moneyed interest ain't one of them

I finished splicing my #neon #QR #code today and IT WORKS! Admittedly it isn't instant and I think I will try straightening up some of the doublebacks to get the lines closer together. My splices have also improved in accuracy and fanciness so I might touch up a few lines to make the #scan more #instantaneous when pumped with #argon gas.

As a amateur nerd who tried about everything #alternativesocialmedia for the last 10 years since ditching FB, I'm very #excitation about what's going on here !
Probably the OG will see us arrive with suspicion, like a bunch of noisy kids not taking their shoes off on the carpet, but watching and *participating* in a #foss and #decentralized network breaking through mainstream helps not losing faith in a cured internet.🌻
