@GrahamCampbell Hmm. I guess I am used to #Altium where there's definitely a concept of a logical group of boards, which together comprise a project or product or $THING.

I don't love #KiCad's use of the word "project" given the one-board-one-project limitation, though. Why introduce that implied layer of abstraction? Just call them 'boards' and everyone will know what's up. It seems to lead users down a garden path, expecting the app to do something it doesn't.

#Altium’s menu for duplicating a room’s placement to create multiple channels with identical placement has an option for “Remove affected connections”. An affected connection sounds like name-dropping, like a component pretending it’s connected to the popular or powerful components on my board.
I’ll select the option to remove all such affectations.

I love how the extra pins are not sequential either.

I was today days old when I learned how to properly replace #altium #electronics components without unlinking the unique ID... at least in a managed component library. I've been actively using altium for 9 years and kinda just dealt with the issues I had occasionally. Altium is great but also too powerful for its own good sometimes - requiring lots of searching to do something the right way. Still way better than competitors, not counting #kicad which is phenomenal but in a different way.

Used a capacitive touch sensor on this 2-layer BB8 PCB to lights up when its belly is touched.

There is nothing wrong with arcs in #PCB traces, but they look weird to me. I wish I knew how to make #Altium not use them when it shoves and hugs. I want it to stick to 45 degree angles.

Somehow the #Altium site changed into partial-Russian menus. When I refreshed it, it went back to all English.

It's odd that they were only partially in Russian

I really wish there was a way to import Kicad projects into Altium. I know you can go the other direction but last I checked there was no way to do Kicad -> Altium. #kicad #altium

I have a very fast Internet connection at work, 100s of Mb/s, but updates from #Altium come at 2.5 MB/s.

For #electronic design, I use #Altium at work, and #Kicad for personal projects. Kicad is an amazing piece of software and if it is good enough for #CERN then it is certainly more than good enough for my various dongles and designs!
