That's the end of that. I logged into #AltSpaceVR for one of the last times before they go. Microsoft has tossed them. I went to all my favorite places and snapped pictures of all of it. They can take it away, but I can have pictures and memories of what it was. It was a challenge to login, but I got that sorted, then it was another challenge to get back to my Home World that I created for myself and my friends, alas, nobody else I know uses VR, so it was all for nothing. But I remember.

Oh, and I like social VR spaces with event systems. I used to hang out in #AltSpaceVR which had events and loved that. #SecondLife has events too, and I liked that back in the day as well. #HorizonWorlds has events and it's my jam. Good way to meet people interested in the same thing. Just wish there were more events and more people!

AltspaceVR, a social VR platform founded in 2013 and acquired by Microsoft in 2017, has announced it will be closing permanently.

I've just learned that Microsoft has fired the entire MRTK team and it is also going to shutdown AltspaceVR soon. Very sad news, I had a great experience using MRTK in a couple of Unity-based VR projects and was eager to see the latest updates. Hopefully the team will be able to find better opportunities elsewhere 😢
