These plots in the old al-'Ulā palm grove (#alUla KSA), like clearings in the palm grove, are cultivated for years in market gardening with gravity irrigation. Further to the left, @RCU_SA Agric. Dept. had new market gardening beds installed with a drip system as a demo. #alUlaAS

Soon is also the harvest of ‘Alawī garlic, the favorite of ‘Alawna people, here in a farm in the old palm grove of al-‘Ulā oasis (#alUla KSA), irrigated with sprinkler, along with, as is often the case, coriander on the edges of the cultivation bed. #alUla #alUlaAS

It is Ramadan and the ideal season for frīk, made of durum wheat (Triticum turgidum var. durum) harvested while still green and then roasted: two local varieties are grown in the old palm grove of al-'Ulā (and prized in Ramadan shorba). #alUla #alUlaAS

The month-long (March) @CNRS mission for the #alUlaAS and #alUlaDPA projects in al-‘Ulā (#alUla KSA) comes to an end.
