I have a bunch of ripe nectarines and some fresh ginger. I do not have a pie crust in the freezer and I can’t make a pie crust because my wrists hurt too much for rolling dough. Started baking Swiss ginger cookies—yep, the ones from Felix Navidad, that’s cribbed from real life—then realized I’d doubled the molasses.
Stared. Considered.

#AmBaking just out of the oven, using up the last two sheets of puff pastry - parmesan and cheddar cheese, chopped coriander, basil, continental parsley and oregano, mixed with salsa, smoked paprika and garlic powder, top layer of pastry brushed with olive oil and sprinkled with white and black sesame seeds. Will tell you whether this Mexish improvisation worked in 10 minutes after it cools.

Cake at the stacking limit.

I made S’mores cakes with chocolate frosting, but no marshmallow topping. The taste is great. The appearance, less so.

Other cakes made 2 high rather than 3 high because I have no appropriate containers for tall cakes.
