How can we expect the average, nondisabled, person to understand users?

And those are somewhat visible disabilities, in that public can recognize different needs, even if they don't prepare for them.

I would like to hope people would be better at recognizing

Again, often if a person doesn't have disability, they don't know it exists.

They may even laugh at an invisible disability.

If everyone around them has the same condition, it may be normalized.

I once read about someone who grew up thinking all adults used a wheelchair when out and about. Because all the adults around them did so when they were a child.

Most of us know users exist.

Yet, even doctors don't understand how that works. Not every ambulatory wheelchair user can climb onto an unsafe exam table.
