Were it not for the clouds over Kokura, Japan on August 9th, 1945, that city would have been blown to hell and back by Fat Man, the bomb that destroyed Nagasaki — the secondary target.

And because that happened, a man named Ted Fujita would survive and later go to the United States — where he would advance the study of tornados so much, and save so many lives, that they named the scale after him. #americanmasters #pbs

I was inspired to order this DVD earlier this week after watching the #AmericanMasters episode that covered the friendship between Marx and Dick Cavett. I’m happily surprised that it arrived today.
This was originally broadcast on the Bell Telephone Hour in 1960. Wouldn’t it be nice if #Apple provided at least an hour each month of performing arts programming on its streaming channel?
