Documentary by Chris Smith which follows aspiring filmmaker Mark Borchardt in his quest to finish his indie film Coven.
One of my fave docs ever, it's a story of an American dream, bitter and sweet. Borchardt, like so many Americans I've met in my life, is so resilient and optimistic despite the world he lives in.

I didn't know Mike Shank died this year.
Mikel Joseph Schank (August 3, 1966 – October 13, 2022) was an American actor and musician. He was close friends with independent filmmaker Mark Borchardt and helped Borchardt make the 1997 short horror film Coven. He appeared with Borchardt in the 1999 documentary film American Movie, for which Schank also provided music. #Coven #AmericanMovie

Rewatched Run, Lola, Run (1998) & American Movie (1999) this evening. Both definitely hold-up. I think I enjoy them more now than I did when they were initially released.
