Was moving to various places at the lake trying for closer images of the American White Pelicans. This scene surprised me with almost all of the Pelicans facing west. Perhaps the early light was too much. It was 8:38am and the sun was rather bright.

There was more lake out there but I guess the fish were here!
Captured at 7:41am shortly after sunrise during fall migration in October 2022 at the Great Salt Plains State Park in northern Oklahoma. Note the 3 cormorants on the cable...trying to escape the fray?

Early morning and the American White Pelicans begin to gather along with a few Snowy Egrets. It was a cool autumn morning at the Great Salt Plains State Park and steam was rising off the warmer waters on the spillway. Where the water comes off the spillway of the lake it flows into the Salt Fork of the Arkansas River in northern Oklahoma.
