Su WInuae emulando un 68060 il rendering di amigapage è terribile, molto ma molto meglio ibrowse.

Sper che #amigaos 4.1 final abbia un browser migliore visto che gli #amiga NG dovrebbero essere usabili in tutto e per tutto.

Mi sembra di avere forse non fatto l'affare della vita, era meglio avessi tenuto il vecchio 3.1 aggiornando solo i kickstart al 3.1....ma ormai la frittata era fatta.

Arrivato oggi.
Sono questa volta un po' deluso, ma magari è il bipolarismo che galoppa.
Package un po' misero ma funzionale.
Un bel manualino per installare.
Le istruzioni delle kickstart mancano, male per i neofiti.
Manca la licenza del SW, male, molto male, arriverà dicono, ma male, dovevi dirmelo prima di comprare, queste cose non si fanno.

On the return flight, I read a few forum threads, and it seems I should check the contents of the SiteList file.

Next, I run AmiUpdate, which self-updates and then shows several years worth of updates for various apps, including the web browser and AmiSSL. I need this update for compatibility with websites which have disabled older TLS versions.

Unfortunately, most updates failed because I didn't have LHA, the de-facto standard archiver for Amiga software.

So I download LHA for PPC from Aminet, but... it's an lha archive too! 😭

When I was still using AmigaOS daily, there were *no* system updaters! You had to notice new releases, download the archive, unpack it and either run the Installer, or manually copy the files in the right places.

Usually I'd go with the latter option out of fear that installer scripts could carelessly overwrite my patched libs 😅

@ball It should definitely fit in reasonable memory sized #VAXen, say 16MB. The kernel can be stripped back and the ramdisk needs just enough to prompt for source and target devices, plus gzip - so much less than the current #sysinst based images. Something akin to the old #SunOS miniroot boot tape.

As it happens #NetBSD/ #amiga still has a miniroot install option - you partition with #AmigaOS native tools, write the miniroot to what will be the swap partition, then boot into it to complete.
