I love this coursework. I am 64% of the way through, and I can hardly wait to start this business of helping other writers. So they don't have to take the long and winding road that I did.

Rust is my first really low-level programming language. I have no C background, only a bit of assembly from college (decades ago). Learning Rust is teaching me lots of interesting things. And some new combinations of swear words. (2/2)

When I read about Rust lifetimes they make sense. When I get helpful compiler messages telling me I should use them, they make no sense at all. It’s the difference between knowledge and experience. I have “knowledge” of lifetimes, but almost no experience with them. Consequently my skill level is minuscule. (1/2)

Got serious about #Learning #Spanish yesterday. Started out making #FlashCards using #Logseq's built-in capability, but what's up with the "You can run through the cards once a day" limitation?

Switched immediately to #Anki. Ah -- many good decks for language learning designed by others, free, easy to use, useful immediately.

(Also using podcasts, watching #StarTrek and #StarWars in Spanish, and finding a tutor for conversations.)
